C – Sweetbay Magnolia

Magnolia virginiana

Non-Native: This small, semi-evergreen tree can be grown as a single or multi-stemmed trunk. It’s creamy white, 2-3″ flowers have a lovely, lemony scent. Best of all, this tree has no known disease or pest problems and provides larval food for swallowtail butterflies. Don’t confuse this tree with the Southern Magnolia that sheds messy leaves and pods throughout the year.
